Coker Elementary School Gets a Boost from San Pedro Church's School Supply Drive

Every August, families across San Antonio's North East Independent School District face the same challenge: getting kids back to class fully equipped to learn. This year, San Pedro Church is again stepping up to ease that burden for Coker Elementary School, purchasing school supplies to help students start the year ready to succeed.

The initiative reflects a simple conviction shared by our faith family: faith is meant to be lived out in service to others. As Galatians 6:10 reads, "As we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." For San Pedro Church, supporting Coker Elementary is exactly that kind of opportunity — a chance to invest directly in the children and families of our own community.

The effort also echoes the wisdom of Proverbs 19:17: "Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done." Church volunteers do not view this as a one-time gesture, but as an ongoing commitment to loving our neighbors in practical, tangible ways — a value rooted in Jesus's own words in Mark 12:31: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

From notebooks and pencils to backpacks and art supplies, every item donated helps lighten the load for teachers and families at Coker Elementary, allowing students to focus on learning rather than what they lack. San Pedro Church knows our partnership is part of our calling in Christ.

As 2 Corinthians 9:7 reminds believers, "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to do, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." San Pedro Church's gift to Coker Elementary is a cheerful, hands-on expression of that generosity — and an invitation for others in the San Antonio community to join in supporting local students.
