A Study of the Pentateuch

San Pedro continues our journey through the Bible for our “Bible in 2026” challenge. Having moved through the New Testament, we will take the summer to move through the Pentateuch — the first five books of the Bible. Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy are not merely ancient Israelite literature; they are the foundation upon which the entire Bible rests. Every major doctrine of the Christian faith — creation, sin, redemption, covenant, law, sacrifice, and the people of God — finds its foundation in these works. We study them not as disconnected ancient texts but as the opening act of a single, unified story of redemption that reaches its fulfillment in Jesus Christ.
Throughout this series, we will keep one eye always on Christ. Our conviction, drawn from our Lord's own teaching and Paul's New Testament writings, is that these truth acted as a guide that pointed to Christ. This does not mean the Pentateuch is obsolete — far from it. It means every law, every sacrifice, every genealogy, and every wilderness trial is now read in the light of its fulfillment.
The God who called Abraham, who heard the groaning of slaves in Egypt, who fed His people in the desert, and who gave His law at Sinai is the same God who, in the fullness of time, sent His Son. We invite you to come with open Bibles, expectant hearts, and a willingness to be surprised by how much of Jesus you will find in the books of Moses.
