A Study of Revelation

As we work through the Bible in 2026, we will complete our study of the New Testament with The Book of Revelation.

It’s a complicated work with a tremendous amount of misinformation. Written in an apocalyptic style, with rich symbolism and numerous Old Testament reference, even a basic understanding of John’s writing requires intentional, contemplative, and reputable study.

In the coming months we anticipate a wild speculative series of references to Revelation as we learn about alien life forms, artificial intelligence, expanding bitcoin usage, possible asteroids, and a host of other issues in the news. There will most likely be new books published claiming to know of the second coming of Christ, or possibly the end of the world.

Before you buy any books, consider this perspective.

  1. The Book of Revelation was written as a source of comfort for believers under persecution. It’s not meant to frighten people.

  2.  Many people have predicted dates of Christ’s return. They were all wrong.

  3. There have been attempts throughout history to tie modern people and events to symbolic descriptions within Revelation. They were all wrong.

We take interpretation of scripture seriously at San Pedro, so it is always troubling to hear people manipulating God’s Word by means of fear and coercion.

Your questions are welcome.
